Armenian Genocide recognition in Scotland, North Ireland, Wales and the Ukraine

On January 14, 2010 News.am reported Scotland, North Ireland and Wales recognize Armenian Genocide. On January 4, 2010 PanArmenian.net reported that the municipal authorities of Izium, Ukraine, have decided to apply to Ukrainian President and Supreme Rada with the request of enshrining in the country’s legislation a clause recognizing and condemning Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Empire. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) recognizes the Armenian Genocide

PS:  I just came across a 2007 news item from National Public Radio’s (NPR’s) News Blog regarding the Anti-Defamation League’s decision to recognize the Armenian Genocide (I mistakenly thought they had not yet acknowledged the events as genocide). Here is a link to that important article.

One Response to Armenian Genocide recognition in Scotland, North Ireland, Wales and the Ukraine

  1. Vartouhi Z. says:

The two-faced ADL has been and is still playing games with the Armenian Genocide, including word games! The ADL still has not forthrightly acknowledged the Armenian Genocide. Nor has it stopped lobbying against its recognition by our Congress. If you read the ADL’s statement closely, it skirts around the concept of the Ottoman leadership’s “intent” to commit genocide and talks about how the “consequences of 1915 were tantamount to genocide.” The UN’s charter on genocide says that crimes against humanity do not qualify as genocide if one cannot establish “intent” by the perpetrators. In the world courts, these sorts of legal terms matter, and the ADL knows it. The ADL’s hands STILL are not clean!
